Yes, all three are inevitable.
(EDIT: After you've read this, please head on over to the T7 Signup Sheet to tell us how you can best contribute to our eventual T7 debut!)
Hopefully the first one won't come for any of us for manymany decades, and we already know the second is coming in the first part of next year, but that last one is coming a lot sooner than that. And since Heroic raids are a bit different than lower tiers, I figured it wouldn't hurt to review how it all works so y'all know what to expect and how to prepare.
(If you were part of another guild in a previous life that ate T7s for breakfast, you can safely stop reading now -- and in retrospect I should have said that earlier; sorry for wasting your time )
Tier 7 raids differ from T6 raids in a number of ways:
- Obviously, only 7* toons are eligible to participate.
- T7s have an expiration date -- they must be completed within 48 hours, otherwise the raid gets canceled and we get no rewards.
- Your defeated toons stay defeated for the duration of the raid. There is NO refresh -- once they're done, they're done.
- Each of the four phases takes less damage to defeat. For example in a T6 the pigs have 6M health (or some ungodly number like that) while in a T7 they only have 2M.
- This isn't to say it's a cakewalk of course; both the pigs and the Rancor hit *hard*.
- While the differences in rewards don't really change much between T5 and T6, a T7 drop much nicer loot -- including guaranteed Han Solo shards for every participant. (Woot!)
Sooo... What does it all mean for you? Well, for starters in order to participate you'll need at least one 7* toon. I think that with the exception of one or two members, we all have at least one toon that can participate. If you are one of those that do NOT have one, right now is your chance to work on it. At a potential 15 shards a day, your quickest path to victory is through GW farming -- Lumi, Phasma, or Sid or whatever. And hey, if you do have 7* toons already, it sure won't hurt to get more
When we *do* decide to try a T7, especially on our first try, we can't approach it on a first-come/first-serve basis like we do other raids -- if we do that, we run the risk of blowing our entire roster of toons before it's needed and get stranded in the later phases with no way of finishing before the 48-hour deadline. We have to be smart about it.
Specifically, we need to decide who runs the pigs and who hits the Rancor later, based on everyone's roster and their strenghts. Remember, you don't get a refresh of your toons at the end of the day, so it's ok to wait until the second day to hit the Rancor to help finish tier 4 if that's where you usually do more damage, for example. We need to manage our assets to make sure that A) Everyone gets a chance, B) We do the most damage per squad and C) We don't run out of toons/players before the end. For example, my personal roster does *much* better with the Rancor and I should just leave the pigs to those who can score big on them. This is where your personal experience with T6 performance can inform your decisions.
Communication is key, and we'll keep an up-to-the-minute post on this forum so you know what's going on, when to hit, etc in addition to the in-game Guild chat and Kik channel.
All this sounds pretty involved but honestly we just need to be careful our first time through to get a feel for what's needed, and later raids should be a lot more relaxed as we settle into our Heroic roles Not to mention, we just keep getting stronger and stronger over time so it'll get easier!
