NOTE: This is the first post in a series dedicated to Heroic Tank squads and strategies:
Intro
Given that Phase 1 sucks a lot, I’m writing this guide to help you to increase the damage dealt by your Jedi teams.
I’m going to use my own team as a reference, but if you don’t have the 5 characters that I found to be the best composition (from my roster) don’t feel disappointed, unlike droids or rebels, there is more than one excellent option.
These are my Jedi: swgoh.gg/u/ruysid/collection/?f=jedi
And my lineup: JKA (L), Ahsoka, Aayla, QGJ, Yoda.
You can check there how I modded them. They have my better mods because they are my arena team too (minus Yoda and Ahsoka)
LEADERS
What I learnt from reading the official forums, the Subreddit, watching Youtube videos and my own experience in the Normal AAT Raid is that the best leaders for a Jedi squad against General Grievous are:
- Jedi Knight Anakin (JKA) – Pure offense
- Aayla Secura – Tenacity and healing
- Ima-Gun Di (IGD) – Counterattacks taking advantage of all the AOE
- Yoda – Tenacity and Turn Meter gain
NOTES:
*You should only use Aayla or Yoda as leader if you can mod and give all of your squad over 50% Tenacity. This number should only be acquired through Tenacity as a primary stat in the cross plus secondary stats on your other mods.
Check this video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzBd5Q1o5nc
**Choose Aayla over Yoda as a leader if you have both. The Healing effect is better than the Turn Meter gain.
***Don’t use Tenacity sets because you will lose a lot of damage unless you have no option.
****If you can’t reach 50% Tenacity, use JKA or IGD instead.
¿JKA or IGD?
I haven’t 7 stared IGD yet, I haven’t geared him either. But with my lineup I would always choose JKA over IGD as lead. That’s because the counterattacks are too much RNG dependent. On the other hand, if you manage to have critical chance > 50% on all of your characters, you have a more reliable source of damage.
SQUADS
After you choose your leader, it’s good to know that the other 3 that weren’t chosen are great in the lineup.
JKA and Aayla because they are simply awesome doing a lot of damage and giving a lot of utility (offense up, buff immunity, stuns).
Yoda because of his higher speed can do a lot of damage too, and he is the best support among all Jedi.
IGD has bonus damage against droids.
The best Jedi to complete the lineup are QGJ, Ahsoka, Luminara, Mace Windu, Plo Koon, Barriss and Eeth Koth. If you have at least 5 of these Jedi in your roster, use them. I wouldn’t recommend using any other Jedi.
MODS
All of the Jedi I mentioned are great, but in order to accomplish the better performance, it needs to be known how to mod them. Critical damage and critical chance happens to be…yeah: CRITICAL
For JKA I use Critical Damage/Critical Chance sets. With speed on arrow, potency on cross, protection on circle and critical chance on triangle (this could be critical damage too if you manage to put his Critical Chance over 50% with your other mods).
For Aayla I use Critical Damage/Critical Chance sets. With speed on arrow, potency on cross, protection on circle and critical chance on triangle. (Critical chance in Aayla is more important than critical damage in order to land those stuns).
For Ahsoka I use Critical Damage/Critical Chance sets. Another option could be Critical Damage/Health (only if she has > 50% Critical Chance). Speed on arrow is the only must, because you should always use her paired with JKA, that way she will always have her critical immunity buff up. With your other mods you should balance offense/defense. She can be your best damage dealer with her special (I have critted GG for 35K, insane!), but if you forget to give her some health/protection she won’t last a lot. Remember that when GG is over 50% life, her special heals your entire team, and the amount of healing is proportional to her own max health.
For QGJ I use 3 x Health sets. Speed and potency are always great on him. I assume that all of you have him maxed (or near) and have experience using him, so I won’t get into further detail.
For Yoda I use 3 x Health sets too, he has very little health so it’s important to mod him this way. Speed is a must. I gave him my best speed secondary mods and it has worth it. I use a critical damage triangle since I was positively surprised with the damage I saw him deal under JKA lead.
These are the Jedi I’ve modded. If you want to know how to mod any other one I’ll be glad to discuss it here or through Kik.
OMEGA ABILITIES
This is the order you should follow to omega the abilities of the characters. I use JKA as leader, but if you plan to use someone else, consider to omega his/her Leader Ability first.
JKA:
1°) “Always on the offensive” – Leader
2°) “Reckless Assault” - Special
3°) “Deft Bladework” – Basic
YODA:
1°) “Battle Meditation” – Special
2°) “Ataru” – Basic
3°) “Unstoppable Force” - Special
QGJ:
1°) “Quick Strike” – Basic
2°) “Harmonious Assault” - Special
Aayla:
1°) “Survivor” – Special
2°) “Inspiring Strike” - Basic
Ahsoka:
1°) “Protective Manuever” – Special
2°) “Energetic Slash” - Basic
Ima-Gun Di:
Last time I checked, his leader ability was bugged (doesn't add counter damage to allies), I should investigate. If it’s fixed, omega that ability first and then his basic and special.
STRATEGY
GG is always the first to go, he opens with his Baleful Laugh, which inflicts Speed Down and Tenacity Down…and the worst thing is that he resurrects all dead droids. Because of this you should always start the phase trying to accomplish the following:
- Apply Yoda’s Tenacity Up buff, this way GG won’t debuff your team. (If RNGesus smiles at you, you might be able to apply the buff and foresight too, but you will need a lot of speed and Yoda being chosen to assist QGJ special)
- Weaken the B2, but don’t kill it until GG goes.
- Destroy the B2 before it goes, otherwise he will dispel all your buffs and inflict debuffs.
- Try to get offense up to your whole team with JKA special, this changes everything.
- Direct all of your attacks to GG ignoring the IG-100 Magnaguards
- Try to apply buff immunity to GG with JKA basic.
- Always use Aayla and Ahsoka Specials whenever they are up, they do tons of damage. Do not use them just to heal.
- Repeat
If I remember something else, I will add it to the guide. Feel free to ask or add whatever you know from your own experiencies.
Thanks for reading!
