NOTE: This is the second post in a series dedicated to Heroic Tank squads and strategies:
Intro
As things stand right now, Phase 2 is the most difficult one for us, so we want to make sure we maximize our squads and attack strategy.
The canonical team to use here is a Droid / Jawa squad, but we have precious few of those available so we need to backfill using Rebel teams (which would otherwise be used in P4). The strategies involved are exactly the same however, so if you'll be using rebels instead of droids this post will still be useful to you.
The Toons
Many people have been building up their droid teams trying to get those big numbers on phase 2. While having your droids modded and geared is pretty important, it is just as important that you use the right strategy to make the most of your run before the tank becomes enraged. First off, I just want to make sure we understand what toons make up a super droid team. The best mix that is tried and true is as follows:
You can try different mixes of healers and tanks like Ewok Elder and Royal Guard but the above is the best mix I have found.
If you lack the core droids mentioned above, we may call upon you to use your Rebels here instead. Here again, some core rebels are pretty much a must:
Your other two spots are more flexible and can be filled by a variety of toons. Great choices include Leia, OG Han, Luke (for DPS), 5s or Phasma (for Speed Down), AA or Rex (for cleansing and various other goodies). Rey, GS or other DPS toons not already slated to be used in P3 would also do well here. Ask an officer for suggestions if you're not sure.
Tanks will NOT do well here, as the side guns will dispel their taunt and leave them hanging there as low-dps toons. Save all your tanks for P3 squads! DPS is the name of the game here.
The Mods
Droid teams: This is what separates a droid superteam from droid... not so super team . The strategy outlined below requires a minimum of DPS and speed to be successful; if your team falls short of that critical mass, you will be disappointed with the results (as several of us were in out last Heroic attempt).
Ideally, your droids should be modded as follows, or as close to this as possible:
You also want a fast (200+) Jawa Engineer, and a chunky Nebit (Health and Protection mods a-gogo with just a bit of speed to keep his specials rolling).
For Rebels:
The Strategy
(REMEMBER: While the strategy speaks directly to droids, the same principle applies to Rebels as well.)
When I first got my droids leveled up I just wasn't putting up the numbers I thought I should be and I couldn't understand it. I was attacking the top cannon then taking out the side guns second. Turns out that this is the totally wrong approach. While the top gun can ruin your day if left to take a turn, it is the side guns that will whittle away at your team. Something else that is important to note is that the side guns are much faster than the top gun and main canon. The following strategy exploits these facts to get as many points as possible.
1) Take out the side guns as fast as you can. Use IG-88s AOE to try and get defense down and HK-47 AOE to get defense down and speed down. This will be important when you topple the tank.
2) Bring the top gun down to the point where one shot from any toon will kill it.
3) Start shooting the main part of the tank until you think you can't go anymore without the tank (or the top gun!) taking a turn. These are just bonus hits; whatever you do, DO NOT let the top gun or main canon fire!
4) Once the tank (or the top gun) is close to taking a turn, it is time to topple the tank.
5) While the tank is toppled do you best to maximize damage using Jawa Engineers crit chance up and Nebit's taunt which will reduce your cool downs by one. Nebit's Desert Ambush multi-assist attack is also great here. It is important to note at this point that if you don't have defense down or speed down on the main tank, you should try to get it so use the AOE again from 88 or 47. If you have defense down save 88's AOE. If you have both speed down and defense down, save your AOEs for when topple is over.
6) Once topple is over just do it all over again. Ideally, the only time the main tank takes a turn is immediately after topple (which is why your droids' speed and DPS must reach a certain level for this strategy to fully realize its potential).
7) Make sure you are keeping an eye on when the tank is about to become enraged. You may have a chance to get your team out in time to do it all over again. I normally wait until I know it is going to be my last topple and try to escape then. I have had some pretty decent success doing it that way.
And that's it! This strategy has been working very well for me and I highly recommend that anyone with a droid or rebel team give it a try. If you would like to see how I have my droids modded you can take a look at them on my swgoh.gg account here. If you have anything to add to this strategy or would like to suggest things that have worked for you please feel free to share. I hope this guide helps you kick some tank ass! Happy hunting!

First off, I just want to make sure we understand what toons make up a super droid team. The best mix that is tried and true is as follows:
- HK-47 (Lead)
- IG-88
- IG-86
- Jawa Engineer
- Chief Nebit
You can try different mixes of healers and tanks like Ewok Elder and Royal Guard but the above is the best mix I have found.
If you lack the core droids mentioned above, we may call upon you to use your Rebels here instead. Here again, some core rebels are pretty much a must:
- Wedge (Lead)
- Biggs
- Lando
Your other two spots are more flexible and can be filled by a variety of toons. Ideally, your droids should be modded as follows, or as close to this as possible:
- HK-47 -- At least 140 speed, with enough potency to stick his all-important AoE debuffs (40% potency or better)
- IG-88 -- At least 160 speed, as close to 216% Critical Damage as possible, and a potency cross to ensure his many defuffs will stick
- IG-86 -- At least 150 speed and as close to 216% Critical Damage as possible
You also want a fast (200+) Jawa Engineer, and a chunky Nebit (Health and Protection mods a-gogo with just a bit of speed to keep his specials rolling).
For Rebels:
- Wedge -- Critical Damage, and Speed if possible
- Biggs -- Speed and Critical Damage
- Lando -- Critical Chance and Speed if possible
- All Others -- Damage and Speed, unless you need potency to stick debuffs like Speed Down
